The one with randomness

I kept wanting to blog about a few different things, but could not find the time to do so. All random but just wanted to blog bout them so I would remember.

A few weeks back, I watched Inception. Have you watched it? It's a great movie! Have not watched one that made me think for a long time. I'm not gonna spoil it for those who have not watched but do watch it if you have not! And pay attention k?

And! I bought a new solar lamp from Ikea! So happy! I know I'm gonna sound real "kuku" here; but I really love going green! I am into the whole reduce, reuse and recycle part. Though I really ought to cut down on my computer usage, and um... scrapbooking kinda uses alot of stuff. But some companies use organic soy-based inks to print the patterned papers, and some papers come from forests that are managed to meet stringent environmental and social impact requirements or are recycled. Hee! So anyway, I got my lamp and though I gotta charge it for 9-12 hours before being able to use it for only 3 hours, I'm real happy to cut down on my electricity usage! Hubs says its so troublesome; I agree. But I love the lamp and I love that its solar so! And for every lamp sold, Ikea donates one to The United Nations Children's Fund. Isn't that so great?! I mean, I get to go green, and a kid gets his/her world lighted up at night! Seriously, I'm so happy about it!!! Daddy decided to get a few for a church brother who's going on mission and I think its a great idea! Again, a few kids get their world lighted up! Oh, joy!

Photobucket

It's selling at $29, it's inexpensive! It's not very, very bright, but it will do. For me, and for those who have no electricity. It lights up my work desk so I can see while I work on my scraps.

I also bought some organic handmade soap, and while trying to sell the idea to hubs, I gave him the story of how soap was made in the past; using animal fats. And that changed during war time or something; people were poor and couldn't afford meat and then soap started to be mass-produced. (Read this somewhere, might have gotten some facts wrong or mixed up) Something like that. And I told him bout the benefits of using organic soap and all...contain no additives, preservatives or chemicals that may otherwise harm you, your skin or the environment. Hee hee. Then he retorted with a, "Wah, you even know the history of soap!" -_-  Ok la, I know sometimes I go a bit mad with my try-to-go-green but hey! Just trying to choose what's good for us and the environment. I don't like using soap bars too, too used to the shower foams...But I'm sure after awhile of using soap bars, we will get used to it again. Then hubs came up with, "Remember what Chandler said in "Friends"? What's the first and last part of your body you wash when you use a bar soap? First - your face. Last - your groin area. Then the next person? First - His/her face. Last - his/her groin area." You get the idea. -_-

As the title suggest, all random stuff!! =)

BarlowGirl - I Believe In Love [HQ]

I chanced upon a blog http://pamelaswalk.blogspot.com/. And I found this really amazing song.  Even if you are not a believer, just listen to it, it isn't really preachy and all. I promise.

**And for those who are struggling with life... I like what the author of the blog wrote recently...

"I just prayed the most ridiculous prayer. But unfortunately we do it all the time.

I was praying asking for direction with some stuff in my life that just doesn't seem to be going my way...or progressing in any way. I found myself saying something like "Lord, if we could just do things my way this time..." And I caught myself. It was like I could hear God saying "We could do things your way this time child, but you will miss out on so much." Honestly, why would I want a human, flawed plan when I could have God's perfect plan for me. It may not be what I think I need. But He knows more then me!!! I know...shocking, right? No. We all know better. HE knows what I need. He knows what YOU need. "

I love what she pointed out. God lets us live our own lives, he always give us choices. We could always do it our way or His. But... It was like I could hear God saying "We could do things your way this time child, but you will miss out on so much." Amen to that. He knows, He always knows what's best, we just have to trust.

Trip to the Jurong Bird Park

We went to the bird park last sunday...Kate was really excited since a day before, I had told her we were going, but it rained. Hubs came along since he was on his off day that day. Pictures!

**Kate had a little penguin painted on her hand...she was so scared it would come off, she kept holding her hand opened wide.. So cute. We queued ten minutes for it, then ten minutes later, it came off when she played at the water-themed park. -_- When it started to come off, I teased her and asked where her penguin went. She took a look at her hand and when she saw the distorted penguin her whole face fell. It was so funny! *So bad right?* Just find children so adorable. After that, she got distracted by the water park again. Haha.

Webster's Pages design team call

I was blog-hopping on Webster's pages' design team's blogs. They were having this "Week of Winter Wonderland" and each of them had made a card for each other and were giving away a set of stamps. It was sooo fun to look at each designer's project and see their different styles. They are sooo talented, I'm jealous!
If you wanna join in the fun, or get some inspiration for your scraps, do check out http://websterspages.ning.com/

Anyway, Webster's Pages are having their first open design team call!

Here are all the juicy details:

"Webster’s Pages is pleased to announce their first open design team call!

We are looking for paper crafters that 1) love working with Webster’s Pages products, 2) are looking for an opportunity to be involved in both creating paper crafts as well as sharing their enthusiasm for Webster’s Pages on InspireME, Facebook, and other online outlets, 3) enjoy helping to inspire other paper crafters with beautiful and unique projects.

We will be looking for members to be on our team that uses traditional products as well as looking for members for our first Digital Design Team. The Digital Design team will work exclusively with our digital products. Paper crafters that consider themselves “hybrid” paper crafters and use both traditional supplies as well as digital images, should apply for the “traditional” team but mention they are hybrid paper crafters. Those applying specifically for the digital team should mention this. The application requirements for both teams are the same.

International designers are welcome to apply to both teams.

Specific requirements and compensation details are provided upon invitation to the team. However we would like to mention that regular creation of projects and online participation are requirements for this team, and compensation is provided through a generous amount of product as well as monetary compensation for hard copy published items and trade show/advertising assignments. The term will be until the end of 2011.

Please note that Webster’s Pages Design Team members will be limited to being on no more than 3 paper manufacturing teams total.

We are envisioning a team of 15 members with 3 exclusively on our digital team.

To apply send an email to wpdt@websterspages.com with the following information:

Provide a one or two paragraph biographical statement telling us a little bit about you and your scrapbook experience including any publication history, design team experience, teaching experience (in stores and/or online), etc.

Explain in one paragraph why you would be a great addition to the Webster’s Pages design team.

Include a link to any online galleries (you participate on (please include your user name and make sure that online galleries do not have a login requirement) and your blog (if you have one).

Attach a scan or photograph of 3 paper craft projects that you feel best represent your style. Please make sure you include 1 scrapbook page, 1 card or altered item/home decor project, and the 3rd project can be a scrapbook page, card or altered item/home decor project. Images must be no larger than 600 x 600 px. We do ask that if possible you use Webster’s Pages products on these 3 projects in order for us to get a sense of how you would work with our style of products.

Please include your name, address, phone number and email address. Confirmation emails will NOT be sent. Notifications will be made by email or telephone in January.

Applications must be received by December 31st.

We are a very happy team at Webster's Pages & we value our Design Team tremendously! We are growing in leaps & bounds and we would love to share in our excitement with you. If you have any questions on applying, please send an email to wpdt@websterspages.com with subject QUESTION.

We look forward to hearing from you!"

**I think it would be so neat to actually be part of a design team and have people ooh-ing and ahh-ing over your works! But of course, for me, I'm just starting out on a hobby I have fallen head over heels in love with. =)

New blog!! *Only for scrapping la!*

Ok....

I just spent close to 4 hours setting up my new blog. Because I'm vain and I like pretty things. So I bought a blog-in-a-box kit from http://sweetshoppedesigns.com/ again for the new blog. I followed the designer's instructions and tried to set it up unsucessfully three times. Thank God for my sis-in-law who, at one try, got it right. -_-
So it's not the kit's fault. Its just me and html codes. Just don't go. Haha. The next time, I'm just gonna ask my sil to do it. Haha.

Had a hard time choosing the name too, in the end, I decided on Paperville. Don't ask me why k...no reason other then just wanting to put the word paper or scraps into my blog name. =)
